China ENFI Engineering Technology Co., Ltd. has filed a lawsuit for the infringement of its trade secrets, which has been formally accepted by a Chinese court.
The case concerns a key technical secret: the high-pressure acid leaching (HPAL) technology for laterite nickel ore, a breakthrough innovation developed by ENFI after more than a decade of independent research and development. This technology has successfully addressed the global challenge of utilizing low-grade laterite nickel ores, which make up over 50% of the world's nickel resources. It enables the large-scale, cost-effective development of these ores, contributing to the formation of more than 100 core patents and technologies. These innovations have been successfully applied in projects such as the Ramu Nickel-Cobalt Project in Papua New Guinea, the OB Nickel-Cobalt Smelting Projects (Phase 1, 2, and 3) in Indonesia, and the Huayue and Huafei projects. ENFI's breakthroughs in HPAL technology for low-grade laterite nickel ores have been widely recognized, with multiple reports in prominent media outlets, including Science and Technology Daily and The Wall Street Journal.
ENFI has always placed great emphasis on technological innovation and intellectual property protection. The company is committed to taking firm legal action against any infringement of its trade secrets and intellectual property rights. The filing of this lawsuit marks the formal commencement of ENFI’s legal efforts to address the infringement and to safeguard fair competition in the market.
Through this legal action, ENFI not only seeks to attain justice but also aspires to establish a significant precedent for intellectual property protection within the industry. The company aims to issue a clear warning to potential infringers and actively contribute to fostering a market environment that truly values and respects intellectual property.
